Carmel Valley is located just east of Carmel by the Sea. It is a beautiful valley with a definite rural flavor. There are many different types of shops, restaurants, wineries and resorts located in the valley. There are excellent public and private schools. Golf courses, tennis courts and equestrian centers abound. Costco, Target, Home Depot, Del Monte Center Mall and other major shopping venues are conveniently located throughout the Monterey Peninsula, just a short drive from the valley.
There are a wide variety of homes, estates, lot sizes and acreage in Carmel Valley. There are homes and estates with fantastic valley views and homes with river frontage. The array of choices here will enable you to find your ideal mix of home, land, and neighborhood. This being such a great place to live and land being finite, price is the only real constraint, as the home values reflect the desirability of the area. The low end of properties start in the $700,000-$900,000 range and top estate property moves upwards to $7,000,000. Generally, there are a number of wonderful properties on the market selling in the $1,000,000 to $3,000,000 range.
Beginning at Highway 1, Carmel Valley Road runs east through the valley.
The Mid-Valley Shopping Center is located 6 miles inland and Carmel Valley
Village is at about the 11-mile marker. Once past the Village you will find
more open space, a stronger rural feel and even more beautiful scenery.
Weather changes subtly as you head east away from the influence of the ocean.
There is less fog and warmer temperatures the farther east you travel into
the valley. Normal rainfall is 17-18" per year. We get some frost in the
winter, and the leaves do change color here! Population is roughly 12,000.
My wife and I traveled the State of California for a year looking for a
place to relocate from Southern California. Though we saw many nice areas,
Carmel Valley was "it" for us. We were fortunate to find a home and a location
our family loves, and have never for a moment regretted our decision.
